'My ultimate goal in film-making is to make a film which includes a smiling face snap of every single human being in the world. Of course, I cannot go around the whole world and take the shots myself. I need cooperation...'
Yoko Ono, 1967

Yoko Ono presents #smilesfilm, a site-specific work at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens as part of her major exhibition, TO THE LIGHT

A large-scale participatory project, #smilesfilm reflects Ono’s pioneering vision of the power of mass participation. Visitors can drop in to a specially-designed photo booth installed inside the Serpentine Gallery to record their smiles or they can upload their smile image via Twitter, Instragram or #smilesfilm app, wherever they are in the world.

#smilesfilm taps into the transformative potential of the smile, which can change an individual’s view and radiate out into the world. Ono associates this transmission of positive energy with healing and peace.

Images taken at the Gallery are exhibited on a large screen as part of the TO THE LIGHT exhibition. All smiles are also presented globally on smilesfilm.com, as well as on apps for iPhone and iPad.

All photos & messages uploaded will be publicly viewable as the artwork #smilesfilm by yoko ono. The copyright of all these elements remains asserted to the original authors. :-)
