The Serpentine Gallery and the V&A stage a unique overnight event of talks, films, experiments and a midnight feast in the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2010 designed by Jean Nouvel.
Artists, architects and musicians amongst others will host activities throughout the night, exploring ideas of mapping sleep and the psychedelic qualities of insomnia.
Participants include: ÅBÄKE, Charles Arsène-Henry, Dale Berning, Peter Brook, Bompas & Parr, Karl Burke, Eileen Carpio, Sean Carpio, Lucinda Chua, Céline Condorelli, Stuart Croft, Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid, Heinz Emigholz, Mark Garry, Francesca Grilli, Melissa Gronlund, Emilia Izquierdo, Darian Leader, John Morgan Studio, Cesare Pietroiusti, Simon Popper, Laure Prouvost, Alex Rich, Dr Angelica Ronald and Lewis Ronald among others.
20.30 - 21.45
• The Sleepover will begin at the V&A with a Bombay Sapphire Twilight Bar. Enjoy specially created night-cap cocktails and take part on special Twilight tours of the V&A collection. Register and collect your tickets to gain entry to the rest of the event held at the Serpentine Gallery.
• At 21.45, participants will walk from the V&A to the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2010 designed by Jean Nouvel.
22.00 – 02.00
• A series of artists’ films screened throughout the event.

• A talk by psychoanalyst Darian Leader on sleep disorders, dreams and art.
• Power Trifle: Bompas & Parr presents a trifle-based performance. Get Victorian on their traditional, creamy desserts but be warned. The trifles either contain calming remedies or powerful stimulants. You could be awake all night!
• A performance by Heinz Emigholz, Sentimental Bombast – Some Panels from the Basis of Make-Up (2010), exploring dreams.
• A music performance by Sending Letters to the Sea, a project by visual artist Mark Garry with composer Karl Burke and musician and vocalist Eileen Carpio, percussionist Sean Carpio and cellist Lucinda Chua.
02.00 – 05.00
• A series of Insomnia Labs throughout the night, featuring talks, workshops, lectures and discussions on professional insomniacs, the night, dreaming, sleep and the productivity of sleeplessness.
• Insomnia Lab 1: Writer Melissa Gronlund and artist Laure Prouvost will explore the relationship between insomnia and the arts.
• Insomnia Lab 2: Scientist Dr Angelica Ronald and artist Lewis Ronald will run a participatory seminar on why we sleep and the concept of sleep debt.
• A performance of sound and lullabies by artist Dale Berning.
• Insomnia Lab 3: Dreamed Lecture No. 1 by editor and writer Charles Arsène-Henry, which will use the texture and logics of dreams to address content.
• Social Pasta 10, by åbäke and Alex Rich with films by Stuart Croft and Peter Brook. Breakfast will be served.

• Non-Existent Objects (1997-2010), a durational installation and participatory project by artist Cesare Pietroiusti, will be installed in the pavilion throughout the night.
• The evening will be documented in a hand made book, collated and designed throughout the night by John Morgan Studio. The book will be hand crafted and will be delivered to participants in the morning. Content for the newspaper will be gathered in workshops run by the Sleepover’s participants and performers throughout the night.
• The event will be filmed by artist Hilary Koob-Sassen.

• The event will take place come rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable.
• Participants must register at the V&A between 20.30 and 21.45.
• No admittance to the Serpentine Pavilion after 22.30.
• No re-admittance between midnight and 5am.
• The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2010 designed by Jean Nouvel is an open structure so please dress accordingly.
• Sleeping and seating spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
• The event will be documented using film and photography.
• The event is for over 18s only.
