Between 1968 and 2001, Hamilton invited his artist friends to take a photograph of him with a Polaroid camera. The 128 Polaroids capture Hamilton and the artists behind the camera, a near-definitive list of the world’s greatest post-war artists, including Francis Bacon, Gerhard Richter, Jasper Johns, Joseph Beuys and Gilbert & George.
As the polaroids have deteriorated over time, Hamilton has created a ‘restoration’ of each work from the originals and previous reproductions.
