
A comprehensive exhibition catalogue of Indian Highway, this publication includes a guide to the current flourishing art scene in India by curators and writers, Suman Gopinath and Grant Watson, texts on the artists and their historical and cultural context by Geeta Kapur, the eminent scholar of Indian visual culture; Ranjit Hoskote, co-curator, Gwangju Biennale 2008; and Savita Apte, Associate to Indian Highway, Director, Art Dubai and Correspondent, 53rd Venice Biennale.
Additional texts reflect on the extended activity in contemporary art on the subcontinent, focusing in particular on Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, written respectively by Iftikhar Dadi, Assistant Professor, Art History, Cornell University; Sharmini Pereira, Founder of Raking Leaves, an independent publishing house of artist-books; and Naeem Mohaiemen, artist, film-maker and digital-media artist ( www.shobak.org) working in Dhaka and New York.
