Archive: Park Nights: We All Turn This Way:
Athanasios Argianas and Nick Laessing
Friday 22 August

An evening of guests, ghosts and hosts was structured in three parts with individual performance by both artists, followed by their first collaborative project exploring a frequency developed by Friedrich Jürgenson (1903 - 87) to communicate directly with the dead. In the first part of the evening Athanasios Argianas presented ‘Music Sideways’, a vocal canon amplified and recorded by rotating microphones in ‘A Rotary Recording’, after which Nick Laessing presented ‘Voice Figures’ using Eidophones based on Margaret Watts Hughes 1880s invention to visualise the quality of the human voice. Athanasios Argianas (born 1976 in Athens, lives and works in London) and Nick Laessing (born 1973 in London, lives and works in Berlin).
