Rem Koolhaas (born in Rotterdam, 1944) is one of the most influential architects of his generation. He was awarded the RIBA Gold Medal in 2004 and the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2000.

This limited-edition print is a reproduction of one of the first drawings Koolhaas made in the process of designing the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2006 with Cecil Balmond, with Arup. It reveals the key characteristics of the building – the inflatable roof atop a walled enclosure – at its earliest stage.

Koolhaas is world renowned for both his buildings and his contribution to current critical thinking on the built environment. His most celebrated buildings include the Prada Epicenter, Los Angeles, 2004; the Seattle Central Library, 2004; and the Casa da Musica, Porto, 2005. He lives and works in Rotterdam.
