British artists Oliver Payne and Nick Relph have been collaborating since they were art students in the late 1990s and came to critical attention thorough their eclectic style of film-making chronicling contemporary life in Britain.
The changing nature of London is a central concern to Payne and Relph and their limited-edition print, Chef’s Regret, shows a fantastical skyline of buildings designed and proposed for the city in the late 19th and early 20th century, but never constructed. In the sky above are doodles of sperm symbolising the conception of modern housing.
Oliver Payne and Nick Relph were winners of the Golden Lion for Best Artists under 35 at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003. Their work is collected by major museums including Tate, London, and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. They live and work in London and New York.
