Matthew Brannon’s (born Idaho, 1971) work is characterised by his interest in graphic design, popular culture and the conflicting and the often harsh realities of contemporary life. His installation in Uncertain States of America, 2006, heralds the end of nature alongside the mundane, irrelevant and disturbing aspects of our time. The artist’s stylised graphics (modern, Matisse-like still lifes) graced the cover of the catalogue for the Uncertain States of America exhibition. Brannon also developed this motif in his limited-edition print.
Brannon’s work has been included in several major international exhibitions. He lives and works in New York.
